Meet Rebecca Timmis

Hi there!

I’ve always wanted to write and illustrate books for children. I have written lots of different stories, but MerTales is my favourite series so far. I simply love mermaids, coral reefs, and the ocean. Plus, the four main characters – Pearl, Coral, Shell and Sandy – are based on me and my three best friends.

I wonder if you can guess which MerTales mermaid is based on me? Here are some clues!

• I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read books.
• When I was younger, I wanted to be a writer, but also a scientist. I love learning about how things work, whether it’s something tiny like an ant, or something huge like a solar system.
• I love working with computers. I design websites, apps and even games. It’s fun to make things that people can use and enjoy.
